Start 2017 off on the right foot with our Runuary™ Challenge. Whether you are a total beginner or a regular runner, our run every day in January 2017 challenge, is suitable for all women, whatever your fitness level and wherever you live in the world.
You can choose to run for just 100 metres (30 seconds) or ten miles, the distance you choose, how fast or slow you run, where you run and even what time of the day, is completely up to you. All you MUST do is commit to running every day in January.
Designed to help you fit exercise into your day, no matter what your fitness background or workload, this challenge also hopes to help you to meet others that you can run with in your local area. Because, let's face it, when it is raining outside, you are tired or you worried about running alone, having someone who you have arranged to meet and run with DOES make it easier. #GRTWbettertogether
But if you can't find anyone to run with, that doesn't matter anyway because you can share the trials and tribulations of running with us all virtually.
You can meet others by joining our closed online Facebook group (it is completely free) and post for support, motivation, and to meet others to run with. Or join our Girls Run the World on Strava, where you can record runs, and see if they are from your area.
As a little extra motivation, we will also reward you for completing the full challenge. If you complete the challenge of running 31 consecutive days in January 2017, (T&C below) you will be rewarded with a * Girls Run the World T-shirt (UK only, not including P&P). All you have to do is follow the Terms & Conditions** of the challenge below.
This is the second year that we have run this challenge. Here's what some of those who took part had to say about it:
'Runuary made me realise that everyone finds it hard to get out the door when they are busy with work, family or feeling tired. But where there is a will there is a way. As each woman reported back on their run it built up a real buzz about our love for running and seeing so many windswept smiling faces of women enjoying themselves along the way was so motivating. Rain or shine, everyone kept running.' Kaz Thompson
This challenge has changed the way I think about running, which is now something I fit in everyday. Getting fitter and having looser jeans is a positive consequence. It was only this time last year that I took up running and after covering 100 miles this month, I’m beginning to feel like I can call myself a runner. My husband and kids, 8 and 10 even joined in too.' Sarah Crosier
Runuary has been a revelation, helping me to focus on process over goal (running every day regardless of speed or distance) and it’s made me stronger and happier. Sharing daily stories in the online group with other runners – moments of triumph or sheer bloody-mindedness, fast or slow runs, new or experienced runners – has built a bond between us that will last well beyond the month. Laura Marshall
So, why not join us in getting fit and spreading the word to as many women as possible? Remember, it doesn't matter if you walk-run, jog, sprint, whatever. It's all about moving.
