Join us for Girls Talk Live: A special International women's day celebration.

We want to help women be bold for change in 2017 in their careers and lives.

Come and hang out with our #girlboss panel and supportive #girlsquad and get some inspo, advice and practical tips to dominate 2017!

Our events are a safe place for women to share their stories and support each other to achieve their dreams and goals in the workplace or in business.

Anyone is free to attend (Men are welcome) if you want a pick me up, to meet other like-minded women or make some influential connections.

This event is perfect for any woman who wants to enter, takeover and progress in a male dominated sector in particular media, entertainment and music.

Our Panel:

Claudia Liza-Armah, Presenter on Sunrise, Sky News

Claudia-Liza Armah is a Ghanaian-British newsreader who currently works for Sky News and BBC London. She has worked for This Morning, BBC 60 Seconds and was the host of Headline on London Live.

Armah grew up in West Kensington and attended Queen Mary's College. She worked at Time FM in Romford, then as an assistant to the news editor at ITN News and at the Press Association; her first presenting job was at Vox Africa. Before hosting 60 Seconds she worked for BBC Look East she has also presented on BBC News interactive.

Aimee Cliff, Associate Editor, The Fader

Aimee Cliff is associate editor of The FADER; previously she was a freelance writer for Dazed and Confused, Vice, FACT, and more. Her work covers everything from emerging electronic music to mainstream pop culture. She also co-hosts Angel Food, a monthly show on NTS Radio, with DJ and producer E.M.M.A.

Zoe Kalus, Senior Editor, ITV News

Velma Simmons, Business Development Executive, Universal Music Group

Velma Simmons is a business development executive at Universal Music Group the world’s leading record label. In her role she works with brands to create a music strategy to amplify the brand using Universal Music Group’s artists. She started her career after studying Film and Television at Brunel University by using social media to gain her first internship at Roc Nation, then leading to internships at Sony & Disturbing London. Her interests outside of work are eating out with her close friends and watching films and documentaries.

Genelle Aldred, Head of Digital Stratgey, Tearfund

Genelle Aldred is Head of Digital Strategy at the charity Tearfund. She recently joined the sector after a decade in journalism. As a journalist and TV presenter Genelle has worked for the BBC, ITV, ITN Productions and the MailOnline in various roles including; newsreader, online journalist, documentary producer and weather presenter. During that time her highlights including reporting live on the national BBC News channel, working on a Hillsborough documentary for Channel 5 and high profile interviews including; Dame Joan Bakewell, Jeremy Hunt MP, Sir Lenny Henry, Boris Johnson and One Direction. Genelle is also a Huffington Post UK blogger, keynote speaker and has published a short book. She has a Masters degree in Broadcast Journalism from Staffordshire University.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Anyone is welcome whether you are 18 or 65! No ID needed just a copy of your e-ticket. If you have purchased a student ticket then you must bring oyur university ID or NUS card which must be valid.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is extremely limited so we advise taking the tube or bus. We are a short walk from Euston and Warren Street tube stations

What's the refund policy?

No refunds, however, you can use your ticket at any other event that we have which are in June, September and December.

Why do you charge for tickets?

This event is funded by Girls Talk London with no sponsorship. We are a social enterprise and invest all our profits back into the business and especially to deliver and manage our website which provides career and lifestyle content for women in the UK.
