Giudecca, a Totally Different Taste of Venice (Architecture Tour)
About this event
Giudecca is the closest island to Venice, lying south and facing the promenade of Zattere. It used to be a lively place, with many factories until a few decades ago. Most of the industrial buildings have been remodeled and converted into housing so that Giudecca is being repopulated with a different human fauna. After the working class, artists, students, and professionals have arrived. Interestingly, the architects who designed the various interventions are noteworthy. I'll show you the works of Álvaro Siza, Aldo Rossi, Valeriano Pastor, Cino Zucchi, and Gino Valle. I'll also bring you to the south edge of the island to watch the quiet side of the lagoon and the traces of a golden era.
