Event description

Description

This event is part of a series of four sessions during the day - on this event you will be helping care for woodland habitat at Linn of Dee.

Ever wanted to try your hand at taking care of the spectacular landscapes and unique habitats of the Cairngorms National Park? Get some fresh air, learn a new skill and have fun volunteering amongst the woodlands of the iconic Mar Lodge Estate! Join Mountains and The People, National Trust for Scotland and Volunteer Cairngorms on the stunning Mar Lodge Estate for one of our informal and friendly taster sessions.

What will I be doing?

Give path maintenance a go and help take care of the riverside track at the Salmon Ladder on the spectacular Lui Water, or help look after the amazing woodlands alongside the River Dee, ring barking trees to help maintain biodiversity.

Where do we meet?

We will meet at the information point in Linn of Dee Car Park; please do make use of the free shuttle bus running throughout the day from the Braemar Games Field if possible. We will then take a short walk (10-15 minutes) into the woods.

What do I need to bring?

Please wear clothes that will keep you warm and dry, and sturdy shoes, which you don’t mind getting muddy! We’ll have plenty of biscuits with us, but please also bring refreshments to keep you going!

Are there any age restrictions?

Everyone is welcome, but if you are aged 16 or younger we ask that you are accompanied by a responsible adult.
