More about the afternoon session

The afternoon session will be for you to choose which topics you would like to learn about. There will be a mixture of display information where you can read about updates and pick up leaflets, there will be a range of clinics where you can drop in to talk to an adviser or Trainer about various topics, there will be some fun sessions where you can join in an activity, there will be some conversation rooms and there will be a craft share, where we invite you all to bring your favourite craft that the girls like with instructions to place in the area for others to take inspiration from (and a photograph of the instructions!). More details about the afternoon session will be emailed in September.

THE MORNING SESSION OPTIONS

List A: (1 hour long, to be coupled with 1 choice from List B)

  • Power Ups for mentors - (Experienced Mentor session). A chance for our current Mentors to get together, share ideas and ways of working.
  • The power to go Global - (International Opportunities in your unit). What's involved in travelling abroad with Girlguiding? Who's it for? How do girls and leaders get the chance? Suitable for leaders with interested girls (or who are interested themselves!)
  • The power to be the best - (Doing our Best for Commissioners). The new Doing our Best checklists were launched earlier this year. This session is for Commissioners, to give them support and ideas on how they can use these checklists and support their unit Leader to do the same to ensure we are all Doing our Best.
  • The power of GO! (GO Programme Recording). With the new programme came the new recording tool on GO. This still remains a mysetery to some so this session, our GO guru will walk you through how to record those interest badges, UMAs and Skills builders.
  • Fire power! - (Confidence in fire lighting). Girls love building fires and it is part of the programme in some skills builders. Our experienced Leader will show you how this can be done and build your confidence to go away and carry out these activities with your own unit.

List B: (1 hour long, to be coupled with 1 choice from List A)

  • The power to support new leaders - (Becoming a Mentor session). Have you ever thought about being a Mentor? Helping someone new to Guiding through the Leadership Qualification. The best people for this job are those who have recently done it themselves. Could this be you? Join this session to find out more about what this role entails.
  • The power to go International - (Taking your International GAW module). For those that would like to take their girls internationally, whether it be a trip to Disneyland Paris, a visit to a Guiding International Camp in another country or a make-your-own package abroad, this is the informational session for you.
- (GO Programme Recording).

OR

List C: (2 hour long, do not choose another morning option)

  • The power of youth! - (YL session – What is the role). This session is just for our young volunteers under 18 years old. Find out what being a Young Leader is all about. Check out the qualifications you can work towards and gather some useful hints and tips on building your pathway to becoming an adult Leader in the future.
  • The power to give girls a safe space for fun, learning and growing - (A Safe Space 1&2). This session will cover both levels 1 and 2 of A Safe Space
  • The power to take girls on a residential experience - (Going Away With modules 1-7). If you are interested in taking your girls away on a residential, come along to this session to find out more about the scheme and that’s it’s not really as scary as it might first seem.
  • The power of a peaceful meeting - (Behaviour management). Challenging behaviour in girls comes in many forms and is becoming more and more common in our regular meetings. Come to this session for some useful tips and advice.
