The Team (happy to have more on board)

Debbie Bird of AbleGrowth delivers business coaching and training to local SMEs and she was struck by the lack of awareness of business experience and activities within the community.

She is the founder of GL5BiZnetwork to improve connections with business people who are on our doorstep. She found herself attending events away from home and doing business with those people but felt she might not always need to travel.

‘I have been amazed at the skills and capabilities that I hear about as I meet new people within the community and yet find myself working with people 10 or 15 miles away because I don’t know who there is on my doorstep. It can be a bit embarrassing sussing out if there is a ‘fit’. This came to a head when I received a comment on LinkedIn about an article I had written. When I looked up the person who had, after all, found me on a global network – I discovered to my amazement she lived less than 10 minutes-walk from my house in my village! So yes, we are now working together.’

So much business happens in the towns and cities and yet plenty of business people live in villages. How much more sustainable can we be by doing business close to home!

Catherine Roberts of Here to Help U, administrator for the group, who recently moved to the area and set up her freelance business and is keen to get to know people in the local community.

Her business is providing audio transcription and PA/Admin services to businesses and sole traders to enable them to spend more time generating business and less on admin. She is keen to help connect people and businesses both locally and in the wider community.

Ben Green of Branded Up is a photographer, specialising in commercial projects. His work has been featured in several catalogues and an advert for Alitex Greenhouses. Although based in Bussage, Ben’s shoot locations are often hundreds of miles away and in odd locations, so the idea of meeting more local companies is appealing. Ben is also a governor at Bussage Primary School.

Joe Stallard founded and runs Lodestar Digital Marketing, an organisation that seeks to help small and local businesses get more customers through the power of digital marketing. From building and improving websites, to running campaigns across social media, digital marketing offers all local businesses the opportunity to get their message in front of a highly-targeted audience and drum up more business.

Joe is passionate about helping amazing local businesses, in all fields, tell more people about the products and services they offer: “There are so many fantastic organisations right on our doorstep that digital marketing can really help thrive; it’s so good to work with like-minded people in the local area”.
