GLAM Meeting: Poetry Archives
Join us for the GLAM members meeting. The event will focus on poets and poetry archives, with papers from various GLAM member institutions - see details below.
Welcome / Intro by GLAM Chair, Rachel Foss
Chris McCabe, National Poetry Library: Talk will look at the situation of collecting poetry in archives in the UK, identifying areas where practice is falling short of the ideal due to the lack of any joined-up discussion across archives
Clare Wood, Southbank Archivist: Introduction to the Southbank Centre Archive, which, although it has been in existence for a long time, has only recently had a public profile. Clare may also talk about a project she was involved in last year with a new poet
Archive studio tour (with Clare Wood) and Haywood Gallery Library tour (with Imogen Maxwell). Due to limited space in the archive studio, participants will split into 2 groups to visit these areas (c.10-15 minutes per group per area)
Richard Hampson, Royal Holloway, University of London: Changes in poetry publishing and dissemination models over the past 30 years
Jeremy Jenkins, British Library: Dealing with the challenges of preserving emerging formats emerging at the British Library
Naomi Popple, Poetry Intern at Leeds University: Special Collections & the Poetry Centre developing creative/academic collaboration
Richard Temple, Senate House Library, University of London: Poetry collections at Senate House Library
