Event description

Description

Come and help us to develop food growing in your area

greenspace scotland is working with Glasgow City Council to support the development of a Food Growing Strategy for the city. Over the next two years, all Scottish Local Authorities will be required to develop a Local Food Growing Strategy as part of the implementation of Community Empowerment Act (2015).

The approach being taken in Glasgow is to build a strategy based on city-wide commitments informed by a series of local workshops and delivered through local action plans which capture the priorities for each area of the city. This draws on feedback from previous consultations, mapping work linked to the Open Space Strategy and current greenspace management programmes.

This workshop will focus on Ward 6 Pollokshields and Ward 8 Southside Central in the South of the city. Please come along and help us to identify local priorities and partners, map the food growing which is happening on the ground and develop detailed proposals for community growing projects which can be taken forward quickly to ensure that the strategy begins to deliver change as soon as possible.

It would be helpful if you could attend the whole event but you are welcome to drop in for part of the session.
