Description

The Glasgow University Historical Arts Society is proud to be hosting a HEMA open in Glasgow this year with both an Open Singlestick Tournament and an Open Steel Longsword Tournament. Held in Turnbull Hall of the Glasgow University Catholic Chaplaincy this tournament is in the centre of Glasgows West End and hopes to be bigger than any tournament we've held before.

Schedule (subject to change):

14:00 - 14:30 Registration
14:30 - 16:00 Open Singlestick Tournament (Pools and Eliminations)
16:00 - 16:15 Break
16:15 - 18:15 Open Steel Longsword Tournament (Pools and Eliminations)
18:15 - 18:30 Singlestick Finals
18:30 - 18:45 Steel Longsword Finals
18:45 - 19:00 Prize Giving and Closing Ceremony
19:00 - 21:30 Evening Party

After the event finishes the Society will be holding our traditional Christmas Party which all attendees are encouraged to join in on. Food and drink will be on sale at the venue.

Prizes are still to be confirmed.

Kit Requirements:
SINGLESTICK
Weapons: Single sticks will be provided by the event
Head: CEN level 1 350N free from any major deformation or other damage.
Torso: At least a light fencing jacket that fully covers the Torso and arms
Joint protection: Protection for both elbows and knees must be worn and cover the sides of the joints.
Groin: Groin protection is mandatory for all males participants.

Any other protection may be worn but this is up to each fighters discretion.

LONGSWORD
Weapons: Federschwert or Longsword with a widened, rolled or covered tip are allowed along with side rings. All potrusions must be rounded and all weapons must be free from rust and burrs.
Head: CEN level 1 350N free from any major deformation or other damage with back of head protection.
Throat: A gorget must be worn at all times OR your jacket must have a blade catcher built in which prevents blades passing under the masking into the throat.
Torso: A well padded fencing jacket free from tears and that fully covers the Torso and arms even when arms are raised. Light fencing jackets are not allowed.
Joint and Shin protection: Protection for both elbows and knees must be worn and cover the sides of the joints.
Gloves: Heavy gloves designed for HEMA such as (but not limited to) SPES, Koning and Sparring Gloves - Red Dragon gloves or lacrosse gloves will not be allowed. These gloves must cover the wrist, fingertips and have no large gaps between the fingers.
Groin: Groin protection is mandatory for all males.

Any other protection may be worn but this is up to each fighters discretion.
