Let’s be clear—naturopathic medicine is not any kind of medicine. It is an ideology based on pseudoscience. The practice of naturopathy is unscrupulous and dangerous. Despite this, “naturopathic doctoral programs” in North America have figured out a way to become accredited, providing the illusion to unsuspecting students that naturopathic medicine is a legitimate health care field. For three years, Britt Marie Hermes practiced as a licensed “naturopathic doctor” in the United States. In this talk, she will share the experiences that led her to be interested in natural medicine and how she became the most hated (by them) naturopath in the world.

About the speaker:

Britt Marie Hermes is a writer, scientist, and a former naturopathic doctor. She practised as a licensed naturopath in the United States for three years and then left the profession after realising naturopathy is a pseudoscientific ideology. She has been working to understand and communicate how she was tricked by alternative medicine, so others do not repeat the same mistake. She now writes to expose issues with naturopathy and the current rising profession in alternative medicine. Her work focuses on the deceptions naturopathic practitioners employ to scam patients and contrive legitimacy in political arenas.
Britt Marie’s writings can be found at Forbes, Science 2.0, KevinMD, and Science-Based Medicine. Her hope is that her stories will protect patients from the false beliefs and bogus treatments sold by alternative medicine practitioners.
You can read her blog at www.naturoapthicdiaries.com
