Event description

Description

The Centre for Youth & Criminal Justice (CYCJ) will be hosting START:AV training in Glasgow on 9th-10th April 2019. This training is funded specifically for youth justice professionals working in Scotland who conduct assessments in relation to high risk behaviours.

The Short Term Assessment of Risk and Treatability: Adolescent Version (START:AV) was developed to provide a robust method of assessing all forms of clinical risk – harm to self, harm to others, absconscion, exploitation, etc. whilst maintaining a focus on the changeable nature of risk. START-AV is a highly practical protocol for regular risk assessments and it is sophisticated in its approach as it requires a rating on both strengths and vulnerabilities.

Participants MUST be able to attend both days of training.

START AV requires validation in Scotland. Practitioners will therefore be required to share data, completed assessments, and be involved in consultation, with CYCJ and the RMA. Application indicates that you have organisational commitment to use START AV assessment and support its evaluation.

Please note that due to this being a free training event there will be NO lunch and refreshments provided throughout the day. However, there will be access to places locally where you can purchase these or you are able to bring your own.

You will need to provide your own manuals. These can be purchased in advance from https://protect-international.com/product/short-term-assessment-risk-treatability-adolescent-version-startav-manual/. Please allow sufficient time for delivery.
