Event Details

Join us for our latest “Champions” event for managers and leaders in Glasgow’s tourism sector. We’ll be outlining the latest developments and opportunities the Glasgow Welcomes Initiative is bringing to you in 2018/9, and welcoming key speakers from the hospitality and tourism sector.

Hosted by the Chair of the Glasgow Welcomes Initiative, Craig Martin of Glasgow Airport, this quarterly event is a valuable development opportunity for like-minded people from all sectors of the Glasgow tourism and hospitality industry who are passionate about customer service excellence. These informal events are ideal to learn from each other and to share experiences.

Our exciting line-up of speakers will share insights & top tips relevant to businesses large and small, across all sectors of tourism and hospitality:

In Conversation with Peter McKenna, Co-owner & Chef of The Gannet Restaurant, Finnieston

Peter will share experiences gained throughout his fascinating career which has taken him from Killybegs Culinary School in Ireland via fine dining establishments in The Hague, London and Sydney, to being personal chef to a Saudi Prince and a Russian oligarch.  Peter returned to Glasgow where he met his business partner Ivan Stein, with whom he went on to open The Gannet – one of the world’s top 10 restaurants (Conde Nast Traveller). As well as being passionate about creating tasty seasonal dishes using locally sourced ingredients from small independent farmers, producers and foragers, Peter recognises the importance of creating a culture within his company where team members and customers alike are valued and treated with respect.

Craig Martin (GW Chair) will be posing the questions!

Creators of the budget design concept, Motel One Hotels have arrived in Glasgow with a brand new 374 room property, Scotland’s largest hotel.  This multi-award winning Munich-based company was founded in 2000 and currently operates 65 hotels with 18,064 rooms.
