About this event

  • 1 hour

Our world and places are characterised by a diversity of individuals and groups representing the global majority, different cultures, gender identities, abilities and LGBTQIA+ people. However not everyone feels they have the same right to shape the city, from policy to practice to placemaking. What are the mechanisms that we can create or advocate to ensure our spaces and places reflect the diversity of those around us?

Taking inspiration from Henri Lefvbre’s The Right to The City, this chat will explore what makes places special to different people and how the city can be shaped for the diversity of those around us.

This session will be chaired by The Glass-House team, who will briefly introduce the theme and then open the floor for an informal and open discussion among participants. To make sure you can participate in this session, please ensure you join the Chat from somewhere you can use your computer/ device mic and camera to engage with the conversation.

Please be aware that there are limited spaces for each event, with a maximum of 15 attendee spaces. We would be grateful if you could let us know with 48 hours notice if you're no longer able to attend the event so that those on the waiting list can be offered a place. Please email us at info@theglasshouse.org.uk.

We may document the event by recording the session and taking screenshots. These captures will not be made public, and the Chats will follow Chatham House rules when sharing learning. Please read our Capture Policy for more information. Please feel free to email us at info@theglasshouse.org.uk if you have any queries.

We see design not only as a tool for creating great places, but also as a way to connect people and empower them with enhanced confidence, skills and a great sense of agency.
