6.00pm - Glaucoma - Managing a chronic eye disease in the 21st Century
Abstract: Ms. Laura Crawley is a glaucoma specialist, in this session she will explore the role of updated laser treatments in the management of raised eye pressure, including Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) in the primary management of raised eye pressure including comparisons with the latest formulation of pressure-lowering topical treatment and quality of life for glaucoma patients.

An update on the latest technology & evidence for Micro shunt devices and pressure control in glaucoma.

6.45pm - Chemical Eye Burns
Abstract: Mr Sajjad Ahmad is a corneal specialist and scientist who looks after patients with dry eyes, corneal dystrophies, keratoconus and also rarer conditions including chemical injuries. Chemical burns are increasingly being seen in deliberate assaults and can result in a devastating loss of vision and pain. This lecture is about the management of acute chemical eye burns and the use of stem cells. He has a PhD in Stem Cell Biology and has developed novel stem cell therapy for chemical burns.

7.30pm: Cataract - Everything you need to know
Abstract: Mr Khan is an experienced cataract surgeon who performs over 600 cataracts a year. In the UK, 25% of the population will develop symptomatic cataracts by the age of 75 years, creating a significant socio-economic impact. Many of these elderly people are active and want to regain their vision and maintain their lifestyles for another 20 years. Understanding the patient’s need for cataract surgery and when to perform surgery is vital. Mr Khan will also update on surgical techniques and the intra-ocular lens types available. Video of surgery will be shown.
