Glimpsing Air Pockets
Event Information
Description
"You can't stop birds from flying over your head, but you can definitely prevent them from building a nest in your hair"
Christina Liddell began working in partnership with the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity from September 2016, to offer dance sessions to children and young people within the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh. In consultation with physiotherapists, her remit assists in the recuperation of the children’s physical and emotional well being, by providing creative movement and dance. Christina had no idea what profound impact the children and young people would have on her own perspective on life, nor how inspired she would be by those she met.
Glimpsing Air Pockets has been created as a poetic response within this multi-sensory dance theatre production, from her many beautiful encounters.
Along with a highly skilled team of artists, the creative process for Glimpsing Air Pockets extended as a wonderful collaboration with children and young people within the hospital, bringing to life their very own creative contributions, to be seen and experienced by the immersive audience throughout the choreography, set, filmography, soundscape and interactive design within the performance.
Following a sell out run of Glimpsing Air Pockets' premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019, the production will be performed at Central Hall on 29 October 2019 and at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, later this year.
Christina Liddell and the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity warmly welcomes you to experience this unique, one of a kind performance. Pre and post show there is an opportunity to attend a wish making workshop with Ecoscenographer Mona Kastell (6.45pm/7.30pm)
Donations will be welcomed and appreciated at the event, all of which will go directly back into the incredible work of the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity, as they continue to make a wonderful impact on the lives of many children and their families during their time in hospital; helping them to be a child first and a patient second.
Supported by Creative Scotland, the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity, Dance Base and Curious Seed.
