Event description
An online workshop that investigates how to channel your ambition and push your creative work to the next level.

About this Event

Do you want to create a bigger impact? Are you wondering how to bridge the gap between college and professional life? Do you want to upscale the level of your work, but need help to push your ambition? Are you dissatisfied about how others perceive your design? Do you want to redefine what kind of designer you are and what design can be? Do you want to demonstrate how your work contributes to enriching the design industry with a more diverse representation of lived experience?

The Big Gesture is an online tutorial session for students and professionals that pushes the potential boundaries of your idea or project. We look at how to develop your work’s ambition and scale and investigate your project’s reach. We break boundaries associated with the possibilities of documentation and break open the possibilities of collaboration.

Subscribers to this course receive a Zoom link to a scheduled group tutorial with 30 minutes focus on your own project. You are invited to share a creative project that you have undertaken.

The workshop centres around the idea that the best way of learning is to combine tutorials with peer to peer discussions.

We run these workshops in small groups, and talk about each project individually in an objective and friendly - but critical - online space.

Sarah van Gameren is co-founder of design studio Glithero, a studio renowned for a fascination with the way things are made, and how its products and installations are presented in museums, galleries and shops. She has engaged in a variety of different academic approaches to design at Design Academy Eindhoven and Royal College of Art and has also run a process and material based platform at the Royal College of Arts’ Design Products department.
