Glittering Prospects is a deeply atmospheric 20-minute audio drama by sound designer Anna Bertmark that weaves together Brighton Beach's hidden histories, environmental mysteries, and the stories of those who search its shores.
Inspired by cinematic interview techniques and found audio recordings, the piece presents a compelling fictional documentary drawing from the world of metal detecting and coastal folklore. Through the power of place-based storytelling, this immersive listening experience explores how lost artefacts buried beneath our feet reveal meaningful stories.
Glittering Prospects stands as a powerful narrative of connection to place, offering audiences a window into the curiosity, wonder, and complexities of our relationship with the world around us.
This production is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.This is an audio installation.The experience is free and a captioned version is available to watch via an iPad. Due to this event taking place outdoors, although sheltered, the location may change in case of unsuitable weather conditions.
