This is an excellent opportunity to showcase the best of British science and to build international collaborative partnerships that deliver sustained economic and health benefits in both countries.

China is emerging as a leader in the international innovation landscape. As part of its Five Year Plan for 2016-2020, the Chinese government launched the China Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI), a 15-year with US$9.2 billion in funding that aims to build up the country’s credentials as a global leader in precision medicine

With this initiative, the Chinese healthcare industry plans to increase investments into genome sequencing, big data collection and analytics, as well as IT infrastructure, computing capabilities, in-silicon informatics and mobile health. In terms of application, a strong focus is placed on oncology, infectious diseases, neurology/psychiatry, lifestyle and endocrinology, cardiology and other applications.
