Description

The Global Engineering Debate provides a platform for young engineers around the globe to debate the key issues that affect the livelihoods of current and future generations of people around the world.

The theme for the 2017 series of debates is:

"HEALTHCARE ENGINEERING FOR AN AGEING POPULATION".

Attendees will be polled before and after the debate to see whether their views have been affected by the arguments raised by the speakers.

Event Format

1. Introduction from the chairperson/moderator

Question: "How can healthcare technology better support independent life for an ageing population?"

2. Speakers’ introduction - Speakers introduce themselves and the subject they will speak for:

a. Life at home

b. Transportation

c. Healthcare providers (Hospitals, pharmacies etc.)

d. Community providers (Supermarkets etc)

3. The debate will take place and will be split as follows

a. Impact

b. User-benefit

c. Cost

d. Regulatory requirements around analytics etc

e. Technology push or pull

4. Questions from the audience and closing remarks

5. Post event networking and discussion (max. 1 hour)

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

No. People of all ages and demographies are welcome. All you need is an interest in how Engineering and Technology contribute to Healthcare.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The Event Location is Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1 Birdcage Walk, SW1H 9JJ, the closest Tube stations are Westminster (Circle, District and Jubilee Lines) and St James's Park (Circle and District lines).

Waterloo Station is a 10-minute walk away, across Westminster Bridge. London Victoria Station is a 15-minute walk from our office.
