Curated Content

The program will include panels, debates, discussions and demonstrations on a range of topics carefully chosen by the editors of Global Finance. Topics will include:

Who is championing digital transformation in the Middle East? Join our panel of banking innovators and fintech leaders, as they discuss the vanguard of fintech innovation and regional market hotspots — deciphering who is doing what, where they are doing it, and what it means for the future of digital banking, not just in the region, but around the world.

Topics to be covered include funding, education, and initiatives that encourage future fintech development and partnerships.

What is the best way to for banks to invest in the startup ecosystem in the Middle East? Young technology firms are rapidly springing up in the region — and regional and global banks are taking advantage of this opportunity to enable these innovative new ventures. But it is critical to have a clear understanding of the market, regulatory environment and unique characteristics of startups here.

Panelists will discuss funding, encouraging entrepreneurship and regulatory issues — including ways to ensure Sharia compliance — and assess the different routes for banks to push innovation via partnerships and application programming interfaces (APIs). They will also debate options for banks to effectively collaborate with fintechs.

Banks are embracing technology and digital solutions to improve customer online journeys – whether that be to reach and serve the underbanked or by leading the charge to provide the best digital experience. This panel will evaluate the most interesting recent examples of digital transformation that have revolutionized customer experience, and why these stellar solutions have been so successful. Is collaboration with clients and customers the answer? Join in and find out.

Topics to be covered include advancements in real-time payments and open banking, and the impact of robo-advisors, omni-channel platforms, big data and social media.

Fintech and regtech are flourishing in the Middle East thanks to the establishment of environments designed specifically to support innovation. In this panel, we look at how and why this culture has evolved, and how it is augmenting innovation in fields such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, big data analytics, blockchain, cloud computing, cognitive computing, biometrics, app-based retail banking, peer-to-peer lending and share-trading platforms. Panel members will also discuss how partnering with a bank can help fintechs to gain critical mass and access essential resources, and how fintechs can overcome regulatory hurdles in different jurisdictions.

What will the payments and cash management landscape of tomorrow look like? And what does digital transformation mean for transaction banking and corporate treasury? These are the key questions on the plate for panel members, who will evaluate these larger themes through the lens of regulatory roadblocks and interoperability. When and if these issues are solved, it will speed up innovation in cross border payments, enable seamless cash management solutions and encourage trade and development — which will be a sea-change for both transactions banks and their clients.

What will the bank of the future look like, and what services will it provide? Should banks focus on client collaboration? Should they effectively become a fintech for their clients? And how will they survive the digital revolution? These are just a few of the questions that will be discussed in our Digital Debate on the Bank of the Future.
