About this Event
The University of East London - Department of Public Health is pleased to bring together diverse voices, leading public and global health professionals, academics, and scholars to exchange and transfer their knowledge on various aspects of Global Health Challenges.
The key concept of this virtual conference is to enhance an understanding of the global health challenges and public health responses from political, socio-economical, and epidemiological perspectives. Our guest speakers will assess stagnation against the sustainable development goals (SDGs) for specific country or a region, in addition to highlighting the major causes of morbidity and mortality and the underlying determinants of those causes.
This conference will benefit the scholars and academics who want to learn more.
This virtual conference will create an interdisciplinary platform to offer insights to the recent developments, and effective interventions adapted for global health challenges, in which the health and well-being of individuals and the nations are improved.
The virtual conference will open with an introductory remark by the Chair. Presentations are allocated 20 minutes slot and following 10 minutes Q&A/break.
We are hosting this conference on 30 November 2020 1-4pm on Microsoft Teams and will be delighted if you could join us.

Global Health Conference Chair:
Dr. Manizha Hadi - MD, MSc, PhD, FHEA, PGCE
Guest Speakers:
1. Dr Manuel Carballo - Executive Director, ICMHD
Dr. Manuel will talk about WHO and Infant and Young Child Feeding, WHO and HIV/AIDS, Migration and Health, Humanitarian Assistance.
2. Professor Simon Forrest - Principal of the St Hild and St Bede College & Professor of Sociology
Professor Forrest will provide a comparative view across the UK and Brunei health system
3. Dr Aziza Syawash - MD, MPH and Founder of WESH
Dr. Syawash will talk about Diasporas. She will share her role as an Afghan born Dutch woman and compares Afghanistan and Netherlands in terms of their progress towards achieving SDGs.
4. Prof Monir Islam - MBBS, MPH, FRCOG
Professor Islam will share his work experience as a country director in Namibia and Thailand. He will describe some similarities and differences of these two countries in terms of achieving SDGs. He will also highlight health policy and strategic support in both countries.
5. Dr. Najibullah Safi - MD, MSc. HPM
Program Manager, Health System Development, at World Health Organization Country Office, AFG
Dr. Safi will present: Sustaining Essential Health Services in Afghanistan during COVID 19
6. Dr Venkatraman Chandra-Mouli
Program lead for Adolescent adolescence sexual and reproductive rights (ASRHR) for Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health & Research, World Health Organization
