Global Impact Day is a new initiative from the Lifelong Programmes team at the Rhodes Trust, where the community of the Rhodes Trust, and its partners, are invited to undertake a day of volunteering over the month of December to help support local and global charities and causes.

In Oxford, the Trust has connected with local charities and asked them to put forward challenges they are currently facing. On the volunteering day on Tuesday 6th December staff, current scholars and alumni will be invited to help these local charities by working in facilitated teams to come up with innovative solutions, ideas and methods which the charities can use to help further their cause.

The teams will work on the projects over three hours as below. Please register for the project you would like to support. All teams will be based in Milner Hall at Rhodes House. Lunch will be available from 12pm-1pm and is open to all those involved in the projects

9am -12pm - Project 1: The Pump House Project. The Pump House Project would like ideas and thoughts on how they can further engage with local supporters and institutions and the future direction and potential of the charity. Read more here.

12pm -1pm - Lunch. All attendees are welcome to enjoy a free lunch in Milner Hall before or after their group session. Please advise us of any dietary requirements before Tuesday 29th November.

1pm - 4pm - Project 2: SeeSaw. SeeSaw, a local children's charity, would like advice on how they can raise the profile of their charity, encourage more donations and engage further with key supporters. Read more here.

1pm - 4pm - Project 3: Food Rescuers. Food Rescuers would like your input on how they can recruit more volunteers, retain their volunteers and structure their work to extend it beyond term time. Read more here.

Over the course of each project, team members will be supported to consider the challenge, map out possible solutions, work innovatively together and ultimately produce a short report which will be passed back to the local charity. Where possible, members of the charity will be in attendance to help provide further context behind the challenges they are facing.
