Event description

Description

Cerney House Gardens is one of The Cotswolds' hidden gems. It offers a Victorian walled garden and mature woodland, among its delights. Located at North Cerney, north of Cirencester, the gardens can be explored before or after this foraging course as admission is included. And, the ornamental planting gives an opportunity to discover some edible ornamentals as well.

This foraging course walk venue is easy to get to from Cirencester, Cheltenham, Swindon, Gloucester, Oxford, and Stow-on-the-Wold, with Bristol under one-hour away.

The course starts by covering the basics of foraging, including laws and safety. We will then explore the gardens and woodland to find edible and poisonous species. You will discover how to identify some commonly growing edible plants and mushrooms, how to avoid poisonous lookalikes, what to do do harvest edible finds, and where to look to try and find these species again.

There will also be opportunities to experience the flavours of nature's larder with wild food tasters and preserves - such as soups, pestos, herb rubs, vinegars, pickles, jams jellies, breads and syrups - offered along the way.

The exact meeting location will be given two days before the course date.

Participants must be aged 18 or over. Sorry, no babes in arms.

Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the course.
