Event description
Did you know that there are glow worms in Scotland?! You can find them during our night walk survey at Cashel Native Forest.

About this event

Join us at Cashel Native Forest on east Loch Lomond for a dark, night walk survey of Cashel’s glow worm population with a fascinating and entertaining talk from a glow worm expert.

Arrive at Cashel for 8:00pm to be greeted with a hot drink and a biscuit or two before settling down to hear glow worm expert, Charlotte Martin tell us all about these fascinating, bioluminescent beasties. No need to have any scientific background or previous experience, Charlotte’s knowledge and enthusiasm make learning about these fascinating creatures accessible to everyone!

Following the talk, when it is too dark to make out colours, we will conduct a glow worm survey, with a good chance of finding glowing females.

The survey will involve walking the path network in the dark, most people will find that their eyes adjust to the dark and that this creates a unique and special experience.

Visitors are not required to take part in the survey walk.

We will also be running a bonus moth trap and ID session, offering our visitors even more opportunities to meet members of Cashel’s fascinating invertebrate communities.
