UK & Latin-America Workshop “Glycobiotechnology Tools for Human Health.”

Organisers: IBCarb (UK) & Glycoscience in Health Network (Mexico).

When: 12 noon, Tuesday 2nd – 3pm, Wednesday 3rd May 2017

Where: Manchester Institute of Biotechnology, Manchester, UK

The overall aim of this workshop is to establish strong links between the glycoscience research communities in the UK and Latin-America, from academia and industry, working in the area of glycoscience.

Through a series of invited talks and flash presentations, the current status of research will be reviewed. Strategic areas of research identified through group discussions and networking (formal and informal) sessions will be considered in the context of anticipating future calls from respective national funding bodies such as the BBSRC (UK) and CONACYT (Mexico) e.g. the Global Challenges Research Fund, UK, a £1.5bn fund to support cutting edge research that addresses challenges faced by developing countries in various areas including sustainable health and well being.

All delegates are invited to give flash presentations (3 mins) to ensure effective networking and knowledge sharing bewteen all meeting delegates. Please indicate when prompted during the registration process your willingness to present.

IBCarb, UK – Glycoscience Tools for Biotechnology and Bioenergy, a BBSRC NIBB, is a growing network of glycoscientists from academia and industry working in the areas of Tools, Health, Food and Renewables.

Glycoscience in Health Network, Mexico - The goal of the Glycoscience in Health Network is to nurture a multidisciplinary and collaborative international network of academics, including the private and public sector, to advance knowledge and glyco-based solutions to human disease.

Accommodation - will be provided for all IBCarb members, please indicate when prompted during registration.

Travel bursaries - are available to all early career researchers attending this event. See for details on how to apply
