As part of this year's Go York Lecture Series, we are welcoming back a number of Alumni to create interactive and inspirational talks to celebrate our students, as part of the University's 175 Year Anniversary celebrations. Alongside this we will also welcome some new speakers to the floor as part of the Go York Community Lectures.

Event Title:
   Time To Activate - Sandi will examine how politics throughout history has failed to serve women and what we might do about it.

Sandi was born in Copenhagen, Denmark.  She graduated from Cambridge University with a first class degree.  Her career has blended the worlds of performing, presenting and writing. Sandi is well
known for appearing on many Radio 4 programmes; she presented the travel programme Excess Baggage for ten years and was chair of The News Quiz (BBC Radio 4). On TV she is the current host of Fifteen to One (Channel 4) and has just finished filming the latest series of the legendary BBC 2 quiz show QI as the new host. Sandi has written over twenty books including fact and fiction, children and
adults. Her latest novel ‘The End of the Sky’ will be published in 2017. Her latest stage play ‘Silver Linings’ will open in February 2017. Sandi is the Co-founder of the Women’s Equality Party which was created in 2015.   Sandi is passionate about education and is the Chancellor of Portsmouth University
