GOALS - PREVENTING THE HEADLONG RUSH INTO GENDER REASSIGNMENT SURGERY
Date and time
Description
A complex and sensitive area, gender reassignment was made a distinct protected characteristic in the Equality Act 2010. This Act also removed the need for medical supervision or surgery from the definition of gender reassignment; increasing the number of people protected by the Equality Act provisions. Professor Stephen Whittle discusses 'GOALS - PREVENTING THE HEADLONG RUSH INTO GENDER REASSIGNMENT SURGERY'.
This event is being held as part of Cambridge's celebration for LGB&T History Month.
In 2005, guest speaker Professor Stephen Whittle was awarded an OBE for services to gender issues. He also received a Human Rights Award from Liberty for his commitment to the rights of transsexuals.
