GoCricket Academy is led and managed by Paul Farris, Founder and MD of GoFest Active, an inclusive movement for a healthier UK. Paul has a BSc in Sports Science and is an ECB Level 2 Coach. Paul is currently Head Coach of Cranleigh Cricket Club Boys’ U12 to U15 squads, and has coached at Cranleigh School’s Cricket Academy run by Stuart Welch.
Also leading GoCricket Academy is Jack Scriven. Jack is Lead Coach of the Juniors’ Section at Cranleigh Cricket Club. A former Surrey Academy and First-Class player, Jack is also an ECB Level 2 Coach and a current CCC first team player.
Paul and Jack believe that a strong team spirit, together with excellent technical foundations, are essential in cricket and, if developed early enough, will help children fulfil their potential as they progress through the junior pathways to senior cricket. They strive to get the best out of each child and make this possible by ensuring sessions are fun, and by maintaining a small coach to cricketer ratio. This ratio is never more than 1:8 and is, often, less than this.
This is an additional, high-performance coaching opportunity aimed at those children with a strong ‘work ethic’ and who are aspiring towards a higher standard of cricket within their age group.
It will be available to all (not just Cranleigh CC members) but must be pre-booked in advance. The emphasis is on small group, high-quality coaching with lots of 1:1 feedback and the opportunity to spend a longer period of time in a net or high intensity practice environment.
Wet weather contingency planning: In the event of very wet weather, the sessions will proceed but will take place in the Pavilion with a focus on match play strategies and tactics, field-placing to different bowling, technical video analysis and strength & conditioning sessions.
