About this event

  • 6 hours

The spiritual writer Evelyn Underhill once said, ‘For lack of attention, a thousand forms of loveliness elude us every day’. We shall be exploring the ways in which photography can be a means of assisting us to live in the present, to be attentive to the world around us and to see it with new eyes. Participants will need to bring their own camera (nothing sophisticated is necessary – an IPhone would be fine) and there will be opportunities to engage in some ‘contemplative photography’ during the day. No technical expertise in photography is necessary.

Revd Mark James was Rector of a multi parish Benefice north of Brentwood until retirement in 2019. He has always been a keen amateur photographer. He is part of the Chaplaincy Team at Pleshey, a Spiritual Director and a Tutor on the Diocese’s Spiritual Companionship Modular Course.

This event is open to everyone. (If you would like to combine this with an overnight stay please contact The Retreat House office direct 01245 237251)
