Event description

Description

Definition: Gogoozle is an experiment about human agency on the internet

Etymology: it derives from a fusion of the words Bamboozle: to be tricked or deluded; AND Gongoozle: to leisurely watch the passage of boats

Synonym: Algorithm: a sophisticated and exclusive means of production manufactured by users who are neither its consumers, nor its employees, and who are largely ignorant of its procedures

Antonym: Human Behaviour: mental, physical and emotional responses that humans engage in biologically, socially and culturally

Gogoozle is a test that experiments with the possibility of extracting human accountability from online profiles. By reflecting on specific questions about the fictions we consume and create as internet users, Gogoozle seeks to understand the online logic of data accumulation. This practice begins by creating an empty profile; the question is, how far will Google take us? Audiences are invited to sit back and watch, but not to relax!

Eva Collins Alonso is a British and Spanish artist who enjoys creating fictions. She is currently based in London where she is playing with "the online-ness" as a space and place for fictive identities. Her work is a playful response to questions about surveillance, navigation and fiction. She has worked and studied in both the UK and Spain as a theatre director, a writer, a light technician and a stage manager.
