Event description

Description

Any of us can become skilled in the art of living - able to respond to the joys and challenges of life in ways that bring happiness and fulfilment, both for ourselves and others. Even in the difficult conditions of modern life, it’s possible gradually to become free from painful emotions like anxiety, overwhelm and anger. This course will show you how Buddhist ethics offers principles and tools to help us do this. It’s highly practical, giving you ideas for small changes you can make in your day-to-day life that can cumulatively make a big, positive difference to how you feel, think and act. As well as introducing the key ideas, there’ll be group discussion of our own experience as we experiment in practice week by week, with handouts to take away. We’ll also explore how meditation fits into ethical practice, and there’ll be a short guided meditation each week.

Open to anyone who has completed one of our Introduction to Buddhism courses. Please contact the centre if you would like to participate but are unsure whether the course is suitable for you.
