Going Straight: how criminals can turn their lives around
Wed 22 March 2017, 18:00 – 20:00 GMT
Can a lepoard ever change its spots? Under what circumstances can people change their behaviour and how do they stay living a crime-free life? This talk explores how people become criminals in the first place, how they experience prison and punishment and lastly, how they can turn their lives around, providing the right help and support is there for them. This talk includes an interview with a man who spent over 20 years in prison but managed to turn his life around with the support of a family who "adopted" him. It is lead by the Cambridge-educated criminologist, Dr Kathryn Weston.
