Gold Hall 50th Party:

A celebration of Old Hall’s glorious past and golden futures.

Gather Ye! Diggers, Dreamers and all who keep them merry!

Mighty Oaks from tiny acorns grow. A simple idea to create a communitiy living space took seed in 1974, and grew into the Old Hall community farm we all know and love today. It has connected hundreds, if not thousands, of people in its fifty years of existence - residents, visitors, WWOOFers, travellers, friends and family from all across the globe. It is a living network of diggers and dreamers, building a common vision of community life. An ethos summed up by the Old Hall motto: if the relationships are good, the work will get done.

Join us at the Old Hall Community for a weekend where we can come together to reflect and celebrate Old Hall's past, present and future.

There'll be live bands, music, ceilidh, beer, workshops, crafts, activities for kids, and friends old and new.

We will provide food and there will be facilities for camping. Space in the house will be reserved with those with particular needs - get in touch if this is you.

We encourage everyone to come for the entire weekend (day tickets are consciously limited) so we can spend time together and reflect on what Old Hall means to us all, how it's grown and evolved over the years and how we can support it into the future.

  • We will welcome guests from 1600 on Friday 19 July and say our goodbyes by 1500 on Sunday 21 July.
  • All guests are encouraged to wear gold [particularly for Saturday evening].
  • We will send out more practical information closer to the day.

Frequently asked questions

Will I be able to park my car?

We prefer folks to come via public transport, but if coming by car is essential, then please either park in the village car park, or there'll be some parking in Park Field [which you'll access via the one-way Flatford Road]

Can I bring my dog?

No, we won't be able to accommodate your beloved pet on this occasion.

What food will be included?

All ticket holders: Saturday evening meal. Camping/accommodation tickets: a simple breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Weekend ticket holders: For Friday evening, please bring something for a meat or veggie BBQ 6-9pm - salad and bread will be provided; and a Sunday light lunch will be available.

Can I stay in a room inside the house?

Rooms inside are reserved for those unable (e.g. due to disability) to camp or find alternative local accommodation. If you would like to be considered for this, please email oldhallsecretary@gmail.com letting us know your reasons [and age]. All things being equal we'll prioritise the oldest.

Invitations

If there is someone who you know hasn’t been invited, but you think should be invited to the party, please email oldhallsecretary@gmail.com with their email address using the Subject “Pls Invite to Party”

Why are we charging for tickets?

Old Hall is charging for tickets to cover the costs of running a large-scale event smoothly, safely and without undue workload on OH members so that everyone can enjoy the 50th celebrations. It is subsidised by Old Hall.

What is ticket money being spent on?

The ticket price helps cover the costs of bands, performers, workshops (30%); activities for kids (10%); outside and onsite catering (40%); and site infrastructure (15%).

What happens if there is a ‘profit’ or surplus?

In the unlikely event of a surplus, all money will go toward charities/good causes.
