Cyber Crime – Current and Future Threats
This seminar aims to help businesses navigate the complex world of cyber security.
Grahame Bye, the Scottish Business Resilience Centre’s Cyber-Security Information Sharing Partnership (CiSP) Co-ordinator, will discuss building strength through shared cyber knowledge and the benefits to business from the CiSP and Cyber Essentials. Grahame will also discuss Cyber Security and the impact of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to which all businesses must be fully compliant by May 2018.
The SBRC’s Ethical Hackers will discuss the importance of taking simple steps to protect yourself and your systems. This will cover the importance of:
  • updating systems,
  • how to create a strong password.
The team will demonstrate how phishing emails work and the consequences of clicking on malicious links. They will also discuss the recent WannaCry ransomware attack which affected the NHS, how this could have been avoided and what steps to take to minimise the impact of a Ransomware attack.
