GONG Bath in Highgate, North London - Led by Carlo Volpi and Nina Gan
About this event
Join us in this beautiful Grade II listed church setting to experience a selection of gongs and other instruments to relax and restore both your mind and body. The sound and vibrations from the gongs help to centre the mind, calm the nervous system, and restore vitality to the body.
Because of the size and acoustics of the space, you will be guided on an immersive sound journey with two GONG team members and a smorgasbord of gongs and instruments. This is the perfect event to gather a group of friends, family members or co-workers for a unique experience, with plenty of distance to enjoy the unique vibrational effects.
This session is held at Jacksons Lane Arts Centre, which is a 3 minute walk to Highgate Station.
Everyone is welcome - experienced meditators and those curious to try a gong bath for the first time. The beauty of a gong bath meditation is that anyone can enjoy it, no experience necessary. (Please see note below about circumstances where gong baths might not be suitable).
Here are a few suggestions for what to bring:
• Something to lie on, such as a yoga mat(s)
• A blanket or warm jumper
• A pillow for your head
• Something to cover your eyes with
We hope you'll join us!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Gong baths are not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker, anyone who suffers from fits (epileptics), or anyone who is extremely sensitive to sound. They are also not recommended for women in the first trimester of pregnancy due to the unstable nature of pregnancy during that time. If you wear a hearing aid, your device should be turned off during the session. If you have any concerns, please speak with your doctor in advance.
Who will be leading the session?
This session will be led by Nina Gan and Carlo Volpi.
Nina is a qualified Kundalini and Naad (sound) Yoga Teacher, based in London.Having practised various forms of Yoga and meditation for over 20 years, it was Kundalini that landed, and led her to train further (along with the gentle pushing of her Teacher Sivaroshan).Nina’s background as a Make up artist in the film industry, has enabled her to quickly tune in with people and instantly put them at ease. She teaches with a lightness, compassion, and humour – her classes are for everyone!
Carlo is a designer and visiting lecturer at The Royal College of Art in London. A keen meditator with nearly 20 years of experience, he is also a certified sound therapist and is currently studying on the Advanced Diploma programme at British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST). Carlo has been a Reiki Practitioner since 2002 and recently completed his Level 3 Master training. In addition to working with sound and mindfulness he is studying to become a biodynamic psychotherapist at LSBP in London. His journey in exploring the relationship between body and mind has taken him to integrate his creative fashion practice with spirituality, hoping to bring therapeutic sound and mindfulness more prominently in education and design.
