The world of charities, the voluntary sector and social enterprises has changed irrevocably in the past 10 years. Changes in commissioning, funding and giving patterns – not to mention the economy – have not made life easy for civil society organisations working to make a positive difference in communities across the country.
Social change requires partnership with other sectors, such as big business, which itself is facing up to major changes prompted not only by economic pressures but by a new focus on values and sustainability – driven by both customers and employees. Meanwhile, the rise of peer-to-peer lending, crowdfunding and the sharing economy have started to disrupt traditional business practices, and multinationals are beginning to create socially innovative business models of their own.
In 2013 Good Deals will explore how charities, social entrepreneurs, multinationals and social investors can thrive in this brave new world.
On day 1, Social Finance and the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) will present a day of exploration and innovation – with a focus on how charities and social enterprises both large and small can engage with the opportunities offered by social investment. Thanks to BIG’s support, day 1 will be free to attend.
