For our next GOOD FOR NOTHING Hackathon, we'll turn our creative strategic and technical thinking to help solve challenges faced by two young social enterprises; StudentFunder and Franklin Scholars.
Following our first successful gig, at Camden Collective last November 2013, in support of Give Me Tap... we're putting together a "24 hour" style hackathon supporting Education based social enterprise initiatives.
It's a chance to step away from the day job and use your super powers for good, helping great organisations grow, meeting new people who are fun to work with and doing all this for nothing! :)

Student Funder
Through #StudentFunder you can help a student pay for education and get something in return. Fund innovation, social moblity and leadership!
Franklin Scholars
"When one teaches, two learn" - A purposeful student leadership programme that equips our schools' brightest young people to tutor and support vulnerable Year 7s.
The gig will be held over a 24hr period, beginning with an introductory drinks and presentation the evening of Friday 28th March at 6:30pm, followed by a full day of workshops, food and drink on Saturday 29th March from 9am to 6pm.
Schedule:
Friday 28th March
- 6:30pm - Drinks and chit chat
- 7:00pm - Welcome presentation
- 7:10pm - Student Funder Presentation
- 7:20pm - Franklin Scholars Presentation
- 7:30pm - Start creating!
- 8:30pm - Reconvene to share ideas
- 9:00pm - Home time! (or the pub)
Saturday 29th March
- 9:00am - Simple Breakfast served
- 10:00am - Welcome back presentation
- 10:15am - Split in to groups
- 12:00pm - Show and tell
- 13:00pm - Lunch
- 14:00pm - Split in to groups
- 16:00pm - Show and tell the wonderful ideas.
- 18:00pm - Off to the pub!
BRIEFS....
Franklin Scholars are aiming to give children from tough backgrounds the best possible start to secondary school, and are looking for help scaling out their programme of mentoring and support.
1) Develop Branding and Identity
- To develop a more powerful brand identity via logo, brand guidelines and messaging updates.
2) Tech / Web / App Development
- for pupil management and progress monitoring, enabling us to collect and monitor valuable data, without creating too much extra burden for teachers
3) Service / Game Design
- Developing or gamifying existing character growth framework into a more compelling and effective product that also enables us to scale our activities across more schools.
Come along and help with Branding & Identity, Website Design, Web Development, Business Strategy, Game Design and Graphic Design and Illustration.
StudentFunder aims to remove financial barriers to education and enable social mobility for everyone. They’re looking for help and ideas to spread this message virally.
1) Storytelling:
Shape the StudentFunder messaging, helping them better tell their story.
2) Storyboarding and Animation:
Create a 90 second explainer animation to communicate the StudentFunder value proposition succinctly.
3) Viral Marketing:
Help devise viral marketing tactics and content ( e.g. video / PR stunts ) to engage relevant target audiences.
