About this event

Good Game Dev Club is a pay-if-you-want monthly games industry meetup which takes place at Loading Bar in Dalston, London. The event is aimed at anyone who works in the games industry, or is trying to break in. Its open to anyone to make friends and help the community to be a good place to exist in.

If you're developing a game and would like people to playtest, please feel free to bring along your laptop and you can setup in one of the booths. Each has a plug socket below the seat.

SPEAKER - Andrew Fowler & Ed Hodgson - More In Common UK

Andrew and Ed both work for More In Common, a non-profit whose mission is to understand the forces driving us apart, find common ground and bring people together to tackle shared challenges. More in Common was born in the wake of the assassination of the British Member of Parliament Jo Cox in 2016.

The organisation conducts large scale opinion research on social fragmentation and polarization, using political science and social psychology to map the identities and values of populations. They use this evidence base to work across sectors and issue areas with more than 200 partners in philanthropy, civil society, politics, the media, unions, faith groups and businesses on initiatives that bridge divides.

TALK - The role of video games in combatting misinformation

Andrew and Ed recently completed a research project about the role of video games in combatting misinformation. In this talk they will share the findings of their research.

Good Game Dev Club is organised by Harvey Hayman, with the permission and blessing of Loading Bar. The event is not affiliated with any organisations. Please join the Discord and let Harvey know if you have any questions.

Good Game Dev Club (normally) takes place on the first Thursday of every month.

Come talk game development, air your views about Unity licencing fees, discuss marketing strategy, celebrate the birth of a wave of new games journalism groups or discuss government games policy. It's all good.

Loading Bar has a load of games consoles setup with a monumental selection of board and video games, the perfect place to talk games.
