Event description

Description

Social Action for Health is expanding our network of sessional tutors to help us deliver our long running 8 week Good Moves Self Management Programme, funded by the Tower Hamlets Clinical Commissioning Group.

Good Moves is a free self management programme for men and women aged 18 and over who live in Tower Hamlets who have hypertension, CVD, CKD or diabetes. The course combines advice, gentle exercise and peer support for people who want to self manage their long term health condition.

As a Good Moves paid sessional tutor you will have the opportunity to deliver Good Moves course in a range of community settings within Tower Hamlets.

A pre qualification to be accepted onto the Good Moves self management tutor training course is that you have previously successfully completed a 4 day Chronic Disease Self Management Programme Tutor Training course. You must also be fluent in one of the following community languages: English, Somali, Chinese, and Vietnamese.

HOW DO I KNOW IF THIS TRAINING IS FOR ME?

 I believe that people have the right to make their own decisions with the information and resources they have (even if they are not perfect decisions), particularly on health issues

 I see myself as a facilitator of a process (rather than a teacher or lecturer) for people who want to self-manage their chronic conditions

 I am comfortable with public speaking

 I am comfortable with being evaluated in front of a group

 I welcome constructive feedback

 I am aware that the training will be intense and it will require physical and mental energy

 I like interactive trainings over “sit and listen” types of trainings

 I appreciate diversity and I am flexible to accommodate the needs of a diverse group

Interviews for the Good Moves tutor training course will be held on Tuesday 8 August at The Brady Centre. For more information and an application form contact info@safh.org.uk
