Good or Better – Session 4
This session will focus on the outcomes for children judgement to support settings to achieve and maintain a good or better Ofsted rating.
This is the fourth seminar of a series of five.
Participants do not need to have taken part in the previous sessions to attend this one.

Lewisham Early Years Improvement Team
Target audience: Managers and owners from all nursery settings, especially those who are new or judged to be less than good by Ofsted.
Ofsted has ‘toughened up’ early years inspections. It is now clear that only provision that is judged to be ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ is good enough for young children. ‘Good’ is now the minimum standard expected.
Are you a setting that is judged as ‘inadequate’, ‘requires improvement’ or ‘satisfactory’?
Alternatively, are you a setting that is judged ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ and you want to ensure that you maintain this judgement?
Support for your setting
- The Early Years Improvement Team have put together this vital seminar for all settings, regardless of current Ofsted judgement.
- It will provide key information and support to help you achieve or maintain a Good or Outstanding judgement.
- All attendees will receive a free ‘Toolkit for Improvement’ related to each of the new key Ofsted judgement areas.
- It is likely that during inspection, Ofsted will explore what quality improvement work settings have undertaken, particularly with the Local Authority or other support agencies and may ask to see certificates of attendance at seminars such as this.
We recommend that two people from each setting attend, ideally the manager and the deputy/owner.
Facilitator: The Early Years Improvement Team
The seminars will run in a cycle throughout the year. Each seminar will focus on a key judgement of the Ofsted evaluation schedule beginning with the effectiveness of leadership and management followed by quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare, outcomes for children, with a fifth session on developing and improving your Self Evaluation Form (SEF).

Payment: Payments are made on-line in advance of the event taking place. You may attend the event without having booked and paid for the place you may be turned away from the event.
It may be possible to make an online payment on arrival at the event to gain entry where places are available, but this facility cannot be guaranteed.
Timekeeping: Prompt time keeping is essential in ensuring a professional learning environment. Late-comers may be refused admission to the course/training event where entry may be detrimental to the learning of others.
Cancellation:If you are no longer able to attend the course, please notify us by email STEEPcontact@gmail.com, giving us at least 48 hours notice. If you fail to do this your full course fee will be retained.
In the event the organiser has to cancel or reschedule the event, your booking will be transferred to the next available date or a full refund provided.
Refund policy: Refunds will only be given if the attendee gives 48 hours notice of non-attendance. After this time no refunds will be given.
