About this Event

Jump on a call with members of the Doc Society team to find out more about Good Pitch USA 2019, returning to New York for a national edition this October.

A dial in link will be issued to registered attendees ahead of the Webinar.

No question too big or too small! Please come prepared with your queries. We will aim to cover the following areas:

  • Goals of the Good Pitch Programme
  • What makes a Good Pitch Filmmaker?
  • What makes a Good Pitch project?
  • Devising an Outreach Strategy
  • The commitment for selected filmmakers

We are looking for six ambitious feature documentaries that tackle a national or global issue, stories that reveal something important about our world, and ourselves.

Films of any style are welcomed––personal, observational, essays, presenter-led, or verité.

Projects can be at any stage, while rough cut is ideal, early production to completion and even films scheduled for festival premiere are acceptable. They should be 60+ minutes in length (we welcome plans for shorter versions and accompanying interactive projects).

Good Pitch filmmakers think beyond traditional funding and distribution models. They have creative ideas to reach audiences that matter. They are excited about the prospect of designing and partnering on an impact campaign that could change hearts and minds, affect policy, and help build community.

Participating in the Good Pitch programme is both an opportunity and a commitment. Doc Society works to support the selected film teams over a six-month period. The Outreach Director works with you to build an extraordinary table full of potential partners. We need you to be ready and willing to participate in the convenings and workshops that precede the Pitch event.

Good Pitch USA 2019 filmmakers are required to participate in a four-day Impact Lab (May 20-23), a pitch training workshop the weekend of October 19-20, and the live event on October 22, all in New York City.

You can find more information about the programme HERE.

Applications open until Feb 21. APPLY HERE!

Following the 2016 edition of Good Pitch in the US we went Local, and embraced short form nonfiction, touring to five states across the US to discover the extraordinary talent and passion of creative communities in Miami, Durham, Dallas (and Austin), Detroit and Philly. Good Pitch Local events showcased 72 projects from both media makers and organizers, creating space for community partnerships and unleashing local resources for story-driven social change.

In 2018, Good Pitch national programs for feature docs took place in Canada, Colombia, Europe (Amsterdam), and India. And the program continues to expand globally, follow us HERE.

Thank you to all our partners and supporters who have made this event possible.
