Event description

Good Practice in MFL at KS3

In September 2015 Ofsted published their report “Key Stage 3: the wasted years?” This report highlighted their concern of the unsatisfactory levels of achievement in certain subjects, including Modern Languages. This one-day course will look at different aspects of the new Key Stage 3 curriculum, including Speaking, Translation, Grammar and Literature. Delegates will explore curriculum requirements, look at examples of good practice, take away strategies to implement in their own classrooms and consider the issue of progression.

The Three Modules

Over the day we will look at the following aspects of Key Stage 3:

Speaking, Grammar, Translation, Literature and Extended Writing.

In each session we will explore the curriculum requirements for teaching the different skills, the rationale behind them and look at a range of strategies to use in the classroom.

Suitable for MFL Subject Leaders and Class Teachers.
