Good Women: Affordable housing event - NHH
Thu 25 May 2017, 18:00 – 21:00 BST
On the 25th of May 2017, Koreo will host another wonderful Good Women event to explore the topic of housing in the UK.
The housing crisis isn’t about houses – it’s about people. The lack of affordable, decent homes is affecting families across the whole country. According to Shelter:
- Home ownership is slipping out of reach - on average, house prices are now almost seven times people’s incomes.
- Housing costs are hugely expensive - 28,900 homes were repossessed across the UK in 2013 because people couldn't cover their mortgages.
- More families are renting from private landlords - there are now more than 9 million renters in private rented accommodation, including almost 1.3 million families with children.
- Levels of homelessness are rising - the number of homeless households has risen to more than 50,000 a year.
For our contribution to that agenda, we are partnering with Notting Hill Housing to host an event which which will bring together women from across the private, public and social sectors to explore the UK housing crisis.
The event, hosted in Notting Hill Housing's venue, will include speakers, the famous Good Women soapbox, and bags of time for neworking. Please join us for a wonderful evening of networking and debate with fellow Good Women.
If you would like to partner with us, or if you are interested to share your own story, please email Floree at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Good Women is a free and open network for women - across sectors, organisations, professions and at different stages of life - interested in social and environmental change. Set up and hosted by Koreo, a talent consultancy dedicated to social change, the network's ambition is to inspire and mobilise female talent to address some of the pressing complex issues we face today. You can find out more about the network here.
