Event description

Description

There’s many a pitfall when it comes to photographing your food, which you might know if you’ve ever taken a quick snap of your supper only for it to come out looking a little less appealing than you had in mind.

Don’t worry though, it happens to the best of us. Getting your food to look as good as it tastes takes a little practice. The good news, though, is that with the right know-how it really can be simple.

Here at GoodtoKnow we’ve teamed up with camera manufacturers Fujifilm to run a hands-on Christmas food styling and photography course for keen cooks (or eaters).

Here's what's included in the day:

  • Hands-on food-styling guidance from a GoodtoKnow food stylist
  • Top tips and food photography training from a Fujifilm professional photographer
  • Time to take your own photographs of the three Christmas dishes provided using the knowledge learned on the day (we'll even do the washing up!)
  • Time to explore the new Fujifilm camera, which will include instructions on how to send your photos straight to your phone where you can then publish to your social media
  • The day in a stunning East London food studio, which will include welcome drinks and a leisurely lunch
  • A gorgeous goodie bag worth over £30

Looking for a little more detail? Read on...

We’re basing our workshop in a beautiful East-London studio, Rye London, which makes the perfect backdrop to any shoot thanks to its chic Nordic design and clean white lines.

Leading the day will be expert Fujifilm photographer Chio Fernandez who has worked for huge household names like Harvey Nichols and Airbnb during her career. She’ll be on hand to show you all the clever tricks she uses to make food look beautiful in her shots every time, while also sharing tips for ways to get professional-looking shots in your own home.

Covering topics like composition, shape, colour and focal points, after just a few short hours you’ll know exactly what makes a food snap look beautiful.

Working alongside Chio will be food stylist Rosie Conroy. Having worked for Time Inc food brands like Woman’s Weekly, Woman & Home and GoodtoKnow, Rosie has had years of experience when it comes to prepping food for photoshoots. She’ll be there to explain all the ways she likes to make her food photographs stand out, whether that be a scattering of colourful garnishes or getting things a bit messy to make dishes and spreads look more realistic.

On the day you’ll be lead through how to photograph three classic Christmas dishes, and we’ll even do all the prep and washing up for you!

You’ll be shooting on Fujifilm’s latest camera, which is perfect for aspiring bloggers and food stylists. Its clever controls allow you to send snaps straight to your smartphone, where you can post directly to social media.

To make sure everyone gets individual attention we’ve limited the number of participants to eight, on a first come first served basis, so you’ll have to be quick!
