Governance and Accountability in AI
Event Information
About this Event
How can humanity best navigate the transition to a world with advanced AI systems? Join us on December 3rd to engage in current debates surrounding the UK's governance of AI, and the potential for achieving real accountability of these systems.
While governance of these systems can enhance transparency, mitigate risk and remove bias, are we clear on what tools we are using to demonstrate real accountability in AI? Are we doing enough? How do we move away from discussion to practical application? Moreover, can governance become a barrier to innovation and development? If so, then how do we develop governance frameworks that don't disrupt growth?
Join us for an insightful discussion with four leading figures in the space of governance and accountability:
Lord Clement Jones — Former Chair of the House of Lords Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on AI.
Katherine Holden — Head of Data Analytics, AI and Digital ID at TechUK. Prior to techUK, Katherine worked as a Policy Advisor at the Government Digital Service (GDS) supporting the digital transformation of UK Government.
Shamus Rae — CEO of Engine B, which aims to expedite the digitisation of the Professional Services industry. Previously Partner and Head of Innovation and Digital Disruption at KPMG, Shamus is a dedicated change-maker, focused exclusively on leveraging AI and data to transform organisations.
Ellis Parry — Ellis is a solicitor with 20 years PQE and an MBA. He was appointed in November 2019 as the Information Commissioner’s first Data Ethics Adviser, responsible for articulating the regulator’s view of the interplay between the inherently ethical principles of the GDPR and the growing field of data ethics.
