This is an essential course for all recently appointed school governors and academy trustees. Board members have a challenging voluntary role to fulfil, and high-quality induction is vital to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need. This Programme will develop your understanding of a governance board’s roles and responsibilities and how to fulfil these effectively so that you can begin to make a positive difference to your governance board and feel you are contributing effectively.
The Programme will explore the three key functions of all governance boards and consider the different structures and responsibilities in LA-maintained schools and academy trusts.
The Programme consists of three separate modules and new board members will derive maximum benefit if they attend all sessions in consecutive weeks. To enable as many new board members as possible to access this Programme, it will be offered on at least 5 separate occasions throughout the academic year, so if you are unable to access either of the 2 Programmes on offer during the Spring Term a further opportunity will be available in the Summer Term 2021.
