Gower Wild Food / Plant Identification Course
Sun 2 April 2017, 11:00 – 17:00 BST
An introduction to foraging and plant identification with experienced wild plantsman Chris Hope - Wild Plant Guide.
This is a day of immersing yourself in all things wild, set in a gorgeous coastal location just 10 mins walk from the beach!
The one day foraging course is split into three parts.
First: We explore how plants live and grow, and examine the plant patterns they produce along with getting to grips with the basic foraging botany that is indispensable to successfully and safely foraging!
Secondly: We take a 2 hour forage walk, meeting, discussing and tasting a wide array of species, from the heightened bio-diversity that is always found where two or more eco-systems meet. Prepare then, to meet and examine around 30 edible and medicinal plants in a two hour walk through fields, hedgerows, woodland and seaside.
Thirdly: We will use some of our finds to make something simple and tasty to eat after the walk, and have a question and answer session about the day.
Children are more than welcome...under 16's are half price and under 12's come free.
Supervised dogs are also welcome.
Please dress for the changeable British weather, and bring sturdy footwear as we will be going through an often muddy woodland that has springs and shallow streams that we need to traverse! .
Unfortunately, access is unsuitable on this event for those in wheelchairs or crutches.
