A one-day practical workshop (worth 8 CPD hours) in which participating teachers will gain an understanding of the important elements of performance for each of the Character Dances in Grades 1-3.
The aim of this one-day practical workshop is to boost participants’ confidence in teaching the Character work in the RAD’s Grades 1-3 syllabus through enhancing their knowledge and understanding of technique, style and musicality appropriate to each level.
Participants will be able to:
demonstrate, physically and/or through explanation, an understanding of the character technique/s at each level
demonstrate, physically and/or through explanation, an understanding of the correct style for each level
discuss stylistic, rhythmic and historical features of the Character Dance music
Participants will have knowledge and understanding of:
approaches to help their learners develop expressive and confident performance of the Character Dances
the relationship between elements of technique, style, musicality and overall performance outlined above and the assessment criteria for Examinations, Class Awards, and Solo Performance Awards
