This is your registration confirmation for the Astrobiology and Planetary Science Workshop 27-28 November 2019. Further details will be sent to all delegates prior to the event. Accommodation and meals at the venue have been paid in advance by SEPnet. GRADnet/NPL Summer School: Opportunities beyond your PhD!

Who: Postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers working in physical sciences.

What: A 2-day residential workshop exploring the opportunities beyond one’s PhD to widen career options. There will be sessions on developing networking skills and actively expanding your network; translating your research/PhD skills to Industry: looking at important scientific trends/issues in physical sciences (industry-centric) as well as employer-led workshops. (Single room accommodation at Travelodge, Teddington)

When: Monday, 4 July to Tuesday, 5 July 2022 at 10:30-16:30

Where: National Physical Laboratory, Teddington, Middlesex

This is an interactive, fun, challenging and stimulating programme that includes the following components:

• Networking Skills Development: Interactive workshop focused on developing important networking skills and giving participants an opportunity to network with their peers.

• Foresighting: Presentation by an expert in the field, followed by small group working sessions to further explore the topic. Opportunity for Q&A with the expert.

• Translating your Research/PhD skills to Industry: Interactive workshop that helps you consider how to communicate your skills and knowledge in a way that is relevant and valuable to industry.

• Careers Panel: A facilitated interactive panel discussion with guest speakers who have taken a variety of career paths following their PhD with Q&A session.

• Employer-led workshops: Airbus, NPL and WP Thompson.

This event is free (SEPnet pays for your accommodation and course fees) for SEPnet postgraduate researchers and travel expenses incurred can be claimed from your Physics Department.

Please note that in the event Covid restrictions change this workshop may switch to online delivery.
