Graffiti workshop for children 11- 16 years

Graffiti isn’t about the mindless tagging of walls, graffiti is an art form. Like any art, there is method and technique to learning the skills needed to create a masterpiece. Seagulls have teamed up with Leeds Street Gallery to bring you a fun, colourful and hands on workshop for young people.

Leeds Street Gallery are an inspirational group of graffiti artists working with people of all ages to make graffiti accessible to all. They are passionate about passing on their skills to future generations.

Over 2 evenings they will gain practical experience and create a work of art to take home.

Week 1

27th July7-9pm @Seagulls

Understanding the basics, kicking off with an introduction from Leeds Street Gallery artists. By listening to their graffiti art journey we aim to inspire and encourage the graffiti artists of the future.

The workshop will be hands on, teaching the thought processes that go into creating a piece of wall worthy graffiti art. Attendees will develop their own tag through drawing and progressing to a small canvas where they will experiment with colour.

Attendees will be encouraged to keep practicing when they get home.

Week 2

3rd August7-9pm @Seagulls

This session will be focussed on spray paint. Attendees will transfer their canvas design to a larger board. They will then be taught the basic techniques of using spray paint and will be helped to create their own masterpiece to take home.

Health and safety

Week 1 will be table based and inside. Week 2 will mainly be outside for good ventilation.

Leeds Street gallery artists are patient and experienced in working with young people. Attendees safety is paramount and protective equipment will be supplied. We advice attendees to wear old clothes to the workshops as we can't guarantee being paint free at the end of the sessions!

All materials will be provided.

Suitable for ages 11-16 years.

If your child is under 14 then an adult will need to hang around at Seagulls.
